MC9 Hydrogen Storage Session - 42nd IUPAC Conference, 2-7 August 2009
Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Glasgow
The 42nd IUPAC Congress will take place from 2-7 August 2009 at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow. The event is one of the most important international chemistry events. The overall aim of the Congress is to reflect the breadth of the chemical sciences, higlighting the impact of science and exciting innovations.
The scientific programme of the congress has been broken down into 7 themed areas:
- Analysis and Detection;
- Chemistry for Health;
- Communication and Education;
- Energy and Environment;
- Industry and Innovation;
- Materials; and
- Synthesis and Mechanism.
The "Materials" theme includes "MC9". MC9 (Hydorgen Storage) is part of the successful 'Materials Chemistry' conference series which has provided a showcase in materials chemistry every 2 years for over a decade, and is embedded in the IUPAC Congress. Professor Duncan Gregory, University of Glasgow, is the Symposium convenor and co-chair of the MC9 Committee. Two of the keynote speakers at the Symposium will be Professor Peter Edwards, Project Manager for UK-SHEC, and Dr Paul Anderson, Work Package Leader for UK-SHEC.
The Symposium will highlight recent developments at the cutting edge of hydrogen storage materials from porous solids and nanomaterials through engineered hybrid frameworks and polymers to complex hydrides and composites.
The deadline for poster submissions for the Congress is 5 June 2009. The deadlinefor oral presentations has passed. Further details for registering for the Congress are available online, with the closing date for registration 3 July 2009.
