Technology Strategy Board: Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technologies Competition - March 2009

The Technology Strategy Board launched a series of new collaborative research and development competitions on 7 October 2008, covering a number of technology areas.  

The Board has allocated an indicative amount of £10 million to invest in highly innovative collaborative research and development in the area of Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technologies. The technologies will contribute to tackling the UK and EU climate change targets and security of energy supply challenges, whilst providing significant market opportunities to a strong UK capability base.

The focus of the event will be on the development of technolgies and their associated supply chains that will offer significant quantitative improvements in:

An initial Information day was held in Bristol on 5 November 2008, aimed at applicants for all of the Technology Strategy Board collaborative R&D Competitions. The Competition itself begins on 16 March 2009 and all applications must be in line with the standard Technology Strategy Board policy, which requires applicants to make an initial Expression of Interest (EOI) prior to their compulsory application. The deadline for the initial EOI was 23 April 2009, with feedback given to applicants on 19 May. Successful applicants will then be invited to submit a full proposal by 25 June 2009. The final outcome of the applications will be announced on 24 July 2009.
