Theme 3: Integrated Systems
Integrated Systems refers to the entire energy chain from production to utilisation, including the socio-economic aspects. Work under Theme 3 is being led by Professor Paul Bellaby at the University of Salford, an expert in the socio-economic aspects of hydrogen energy systems, and Professor Rex Harris at the University of Birmingham, who specialises in the science/engineering areas.
The main aims are to:
- Oversee and foster work within the Consortium linking activities in production and storage, e.g. at Glamorgan, Birmingham and Nottingham; and between the science/engineering and socio-economic teams; and
- Ensure the Consortium continues to work towards the ultimate objective of all work in hydrogen to provide practical, economic, acceptable, sustainable and safe energy systems.
This involves identifying, developing and encouraging links both within the Consortium and externally.
